How we build an MDF display

From board to fixture with no screws in sight: precision cutting, tongue-and-groove joints and whatever finish the brand asks for.

    Laser and CNC cutting

    Precision cutting of the board, with tongue-and-groove joints calculated for a repeatable assembly.

  2. 02
    Screwless assembly

    The pieces fit together by tongue and groove, for a clean, stable assembly with no visible hardware.

  3. 03
    Finish

    Lacquer in the brand's Pantone, melamine, natural veneer or direct Woodprint printing on the board.

Flat-pack logistics

It can also ship flat-packed

Flat-pack assembly is optional. When the design allows it, the MDF display travels folded and is assembled in store without tools, which saves on transport. We have documented it with figures.

Exposed edge

How to tell MDF from wood

The signature of MDF is the edge: the uniform brown border of fibreboard, with no grain. On raw MDF we leave it exposed as a design feature; under printed graphics, it is the reliable way to recognise the material.

What we get asked about MDF

What is the difference between an MDF display and a solid wood one?
MDF is fibreboard: a uniform, grain-free, stable surface that is economical at volume. Solid wood brings natural grain and a crafted feel at a higher cost. For lacquer and large runs, MDF; for premium pieces with visible wood, solid. More detail on wooden displays.
Is MDF sustainable?
We work with certified boards and finish with water-based inks. MDF makes use of wood fibre from responsibly managed forestry. Our full environmental practice is on the eco page.
What finishes can an MDF display take?
Lacquer in the brand's Pantone, melamine, natural wood veneer and direct Woodprint printing on the board. Plus combinations with acrylic, metal and lighting.
