What we get asked about MDF
What is the difference between an MDF display and a solid wood one?
MDF is fibreboard: a uniform, grain-free, stable surface that is economical at volume. Solid wood brings natural grain and a crafted feel at a higher cost. For lacquer and large runs, MDF; for premium pieces with visible wood, solid. More detail on wooden displays.
Is MDF sustainable?
We work with certified boards and finish with water-based inks. MDF makes use of wood fibre from responsibly managed forestry. Our full environmental practice is on the eco page.
What finishes can an MDF display take?
